What is it and what does it do? Frequently asked questions.
The Rotatone device is module that can be installed in a dial telephone to
enable it to dial out on a Virgin Media, Telewest or TalkTalk line.
It is a pulse/tone convertor
Why do I need it? Most Virgin Media, Telewest and many
TalkTalk lines will only support tone (push button) dialling.
I use a BT line. Do I need a Rotatone? No... You do not
need a Rotatone.
I use a SKY box on my BT line. Do I need a Rotatone? No... You do
not need a Rotatone.
How much does it cost? I can supply and fit the device in one of my telephones for an additional £35.
Can it be fitted to my old telephone? I can also supply and fit it to your telephone for £35
subject to inspection. This does
not include charges for any repair or conversion work that may also be required. See the
repair or conversions page for further details.
Will the dial still work? Yes....The original dial is still
used in the usual way.
Will it spoil the look of my old telephone? No...It is fitted
inside and cannot be seen.
Does the telephone still ring as it should?... Yes
Will I need a mains adaptor to power the telephone? No....The
telephone is powered by the telephone line.

I want to use an old telephone on an office system, can you help?
If your system is compatible with an ordinary domestic push button telephone
then the Rotatone ought to enable your old dial telephone to work. Please
call me on the number below for more information.
I don't use Virgin Media, Telewest or TalkTalk but my telephone still
doesn't dial out. What is wrong? There could be a fault with the
telephone or line connections. See my

My answering machine starts as I am dialling....Why? Some
answering machines can start working when a dial telephone is being used.
You can obtain a different answering machine, or have a Rotatone fitted.
Can you supply the Rotatone as a kit so that I can fit it myself? No....Fitting a Rotatone device is not for the fainthearted as some technical
knowledge and usually the ability to solder is required. Therefore I do not
sell the Rotatone separately, nor do I offer any advice on its installation.

I have a stock of 300 series and Belgian RTT56 internals in the shop
already fitted with the Rotatone device. This enables me to offer a
"while you wait" service for these models only.

I am in the shop
most Saturday and Sunday mornings between 10.00 and 12.00. These are the
only times I am in the shop for the sale of spare parts, conversions and
repairs.
Conversions and repairs can often be carried out while you wait.
