The Old Telephone
Company, Essex, England
Established in 1986
Exclusively old telephones and parts for over 20 years
I have personally restored and sold over 3000 old telephones
The
type 64d bells are semi-weatherproof and can installed inside a house or in a
reasonably sheltered position outside.
They are ideal if you need a neat small
bell which is easy to install. They can be fixed to a wall or shelf, or just
tucked out of the way.
The bell gongs are the same as those fitted to a 300
series telephone, so will have a loud melodious ring.
They are all in new
unused condition but are at least 25 years old.
They are supplied with a two way adaptor and a three metre lead with a BT plug
on the end.
Bell
set type 26 was designed as an extension bell inside the house. It is also custom
made to fit under and to be attached to a type 232 telephone. The bells have a similar sound to a bell
set 64d.
Bell
set type 1A is the older wood version of a No 26 bell set.
Other bells such as Danish and Belgian are also in stock. Please call me for details.
All these bell sets are supplied with a 3 metre cord and two way
adaptor enabling them to be plugged in to a telephone socket. Simply unplug your
existing telephone, plug in the two way adaptor and then plug your telephone and
bell set into the adaptor. It could not be easier.
They are powered
by the telephone line so do not need a mains socket nearby. They will work
normally with both dial and modern push button telephones.
* If you are considering buying one of these bell sets because
you are hard of hearing, it is well worth calling into the shop. I have a good
selection of the 64d bell sets on display which have been specially adjusted for
these circumstances. You can hear them ring and choose the one which suits you
best.
Technical note. I am often asked if they can be used as door bells. Generally
speaking they cannot, as they are designed to be used on an AC system at a
frequency of around 20-25 Hz.

Please call (Gavin Payne) by telephone if you wish to place
an order, or have an enquiry. I can usually be reached 9.00am to
5.45pm including weekends. Calls in the evening are not appreciated and could
make me very grumpy. The number is 01245 400601.
I am in the shop most
Saturday and Sunday mornings between 10.00 and 12.00. Conversions and repairs
are often carried out while you wait.
If you have a telephone that you want to know more about, or
have it repaired or converted, please have it right next to you when you call.
Please also have a selection of small flat bladed screwdrivers to hand.
I do not give advice for DIY repairs or conversions or valuations of any kind
over the telephone or by email. Please bring the telephone to my shop for
assessment, but always call me first before bringing it in.
